E-Mail

Email is the most used network service in Internet, gradually replacing traditional mail and fax. The protocol used to send electronic messages is SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) that runs on gate 25 TCP. It enables email sending for one or several recipients and is implemented by MTA (Mail Transfer Agents). IPBrick's MTA is Qmail3.2.

SMTP is only capable of sending messages, therefore, users need the POP3/IMAP protocol to retrieve messages from the servers, these protocols are supported by all email clients.
