Proxy

The proxy service acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources in other servers. A client connects to the proxy, requesting a file, a web page or any other resource. A Proxy is commonly used as way to achieve a better network management; it caches web pages, providing a better bandwidth management and enforces an access policy to network services or content, e.g. to block undesired sites, the possibility to customize web access, etc.

The software that implements the IPBrick proxy service is named squid and runs on gate 3128.
